Consumer electronics demand components that combine miniaturization, precision, aesthetic surface quality, and cost-effective scalability—a combination that Metal Injection Molding delivers uniquely well. Ningbo Precision Tech specializesinMIM componentsforsmartlocks, wearable devices, and electronic hardware, including stainless steel bevel gearsforlocktransmission systems, deadbolt mechanisms, lock cylinders, slide tongue holdersforfingerprintrecognition locks, and precision hinge assemblies. Our MIM process utilizes SUS304 and316L stainless steels offering excellent corrosion resistance and an attractiveas-sintered surface appearance suitableforvisibleconsumer-facing components. The high dimensional consistency ofMIM(±0.3% typical) ensures reliable mechanical function across high-volume production, criticalforconsumerproductswherefield failure rates must approach zero. For smart lock applications, our MIM gears and locking mechanisms achieve thehardness(HRC25-35) and wear resistance neededfortensof thousands of duty cycles. With nickel-free material options availableforsensitive-skin contact applications and ISO-certified quality management, we support consumer electronics brandsindelivering reliable, precision-engineered products to global markets.

What Is a Slide Tongue Holder?

The slide tongue holder is the mechanical heart of a fingerprint smart lock's locking mechanism. It guides, positions, and supports the lock tongue (deadbolt or latch bolt) as it extends into the door frame and retracts upon authentication. Every time a fingerprint is recognized, a passcode is entered, or a key override is used, the slide tongue holder translates motor or solenoid motion into the precise linear movement of the lock tongue — smooth, silent, and perfectly aligned.

This is a safety-critical component. A poorly made tongue holder causes binding, incomplete locking, or failure to retract in an emergency. A well-made one cycles 50,000+ times without dimensional wear, corrosion, or loss of alignment.

When manufactured throughMetal Injection Molding (MIM), the slide tongue holder achieves its complex geometry — guide slots, mounting bosses, spring seats, and anti-rattle features — in a single net-shape part. No multi-step machining, no welding of sub-components, no assembly of separate guide pieces. One part. One process. Consistent quality.

What Is a Smart Lock Bevel Gear?

The bevel gear is the mechanical translator inside a smart lock: it converts the motor's horizontal rotation into the vertical rotation that drives the lock cylinder or deadbolt mechanism. When the fingerprint sensor authenticates, a small DC motor spins — and a pair of bevel gears redirects that motion 90° to throw the bolt.

It is a tiny gear — typically 8–15 mm in diameter, module 0.3–0.6 — that carries a disproportionate amount of the smart lock's mechanical responsibility. If the gear teeth wear, the lock develops slop and noise. If a tooth breaks, the lock fails closed — or worse, fails open. And if the gear's bore tolerance is loose, the entire drive train sounds like a coffee grinder.

At Precision-mim, we MIM-manufacture bevel gears in stainless steel — capturing the full tooth geometry, bore, and hub features in one shot, with the material strength to handle thousands of lock/unlock cycles without degradation.

MIM Stainless Steel Smart Lock Deadbolt Mechanism | Precision Lock Tongue Component

What Is the Smart Lock Deadbolt?

If the cylinder is the brain and the motor and gears are the muscles, the deadbolt — often called the lock tongue — is the hand. It is the physical steel bar that extends from the lock body into the door frame strike plate, securing the door against forced entry. In a smart lock, the deadbolt must do everything a traditional deadbolt does — resist kicking, prying, sawing, and bumping — while also moving smoothly under motor power rather than human key torque.

At Precision-mim, we MIM-manufacture smart lock deadbolts and lock tongues in stainless steel. The process produces the full bolt profile — including anti-saw pins, anti-pry shoulders, tapered lead-in, and drive slot — as a single piece with no welds, no assembly, and no weak points.

What Is a Smart Lock Cylinder?

The lock cylinder is the beating heart of any lock — smart or mechanical. It houses the pin tumbler mechanism (or electronic actuator in smart locks), receives the key or motor command, and translates that input into the rotation that drives the deadbolt or latch. In a fingerprint smart lock, the cylinder must integrate the mechanical security of a traditional lock with the electronic actuation of a smart device — all within an envelope barely larger than a thumb.

At Precision-mim, we MIM-manufacture smart lock cylinders in SUS304 stainless steel. The process produces the complex internal bore geometry, pin chambers, keyway profile, and mounting features in a single operation — no deep drilling, no broaching, no multi-setup CNC.
